SUMMARY OF SOME PROJECTS IMPLEMENTED BY LIVE AS OF 2003 TO 2014.

Several strives have been made by LIVE to assist inhabitants of deprived communities to reduce the rate of poverty and help achieve the set targets of the organisation. Despite the problem of financial constraints, some few successes have been chopped by the organisation since its establishment in 2003. Some of the achievements are summarized below;

 HEALTH SECTOR


1.Since 2011 to 2014, LIVE has collaborated with the Christian Council of Ghana and the Ghana Aids Commission in implementing Stigma and Discrimination Reduction of HIV/ADIS in Mion district with 98% success rate.

2. In 2011 to date, LIVE in collaborating with NKA FOUNDATION an NGO in the USA to implement Arts Village project in Sang in the Mion District. through this project, volunteers from different parts of the world are camped to showcase their Arts potentials.visit www.Redkitebuild.org or nkafoundation.org

3. Formation of Virgins/Anti AIDS clubs in J.S.S/SSS. These clubs where inaugurated in Kumbungu SSS, in the Tolon/Kumbungu district, Islamic Science Secondary School in the Tamale metropolis. Sang J.S. S and Zogbeli block “B” J.S.S in the Yendi and Tamale districts respectively. These clubs have been actively working around their various districts carrying out anti-AIDS campaigns under the supervision/technical support from LIVE field staff and financial support from Ghana Aids Commission and LIVE Water and Sanitation Projects. see pictures under photos section

Sensitization workshops and durbars on water- borne related diseases and good hygienic practices. Over 70 people each from 5 communities in the Tolon/Kumbungu and Yendi districts benefited from the project. Provision of Sieve nets and construction of pit latrines in 15 communities. District water management committees(WATSON) formed in all four districts ofLIVEareas and are operational in monitoring the water and sanitation issues in the various communities.As part of bringing quality health delivery to deprived rural communities, LIVE carries out routine immunization excecises in its operational areas patrticularl;y on school children.LIVE does this in colaboration with the metropolitan health inpectorate. see pictures at photos section

The Community Water and Sanitation Agency Provided the financial support. Training of Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs). Trained 15 TBAs in 5 communities each on pre and post-natal care. 65 TBAs trained and equipped with safe delivery techniques and equipment. District Health Administration and Ghana health service sponsored this project whilst  provided the supervision/technical support. We have also recieved funding from the Ghana AIDS Commission to implement MSHAP stigma reduction project on HIV and AIDS in selected communites in the Yendi district for 2011.

LIVE has also instituted and inaugurated a functioning virgins clubs and youth brigade in two second cycle and three basic schools in the yendi district. the organisation can thus boast of a functioning 40 member youth wing propagating the rights of the youth in the district.

GOVERNANCE AND ACCOUNTABILITY

This organisation collaborated with the Ministry of Local Government to implement governance and accountability project in the monitoring of MDGs in 2008 to 2010 in three districts of the northern region of Ghana.

EDUCATION SECTOR

Informal Education Classes, Enrolled (12) dropped-out children into mainstream basic schools in Dondo primary school-Nyankpala. Re-engaged (6) needy children into St. Monica’s J.s.s-Nyankpala. Donate and distributed school uniforms and stationery to 22 needy children in Sang pri. sch.- Yendi district and 12 children. in Dondo in the Tolon/Kumbungu district.Organized grand durbars on human rights especially, domestic violence in all catchment’s areas of the organisation. A total of 15 communities chiefs and opinion leaders on the need to respect each others rights and opinions especially women and children benefited from this project.see pictures at photos section .The organisation has also erected a shed(pavellion) for three under trees classroom at Sang E/A primary school at Sang in the Yendi district in 2010

MICRO- ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT

LIVE identified and formed 6 women groups in all the three districts. A total of 85 women registered and operational in LIVE’s catchments areas. Business Advisory Services rendered to these women groups on how to manage and improve their businesses. LIVE is currently providing a total of ¢ 20,000,000 revolving fund disbursed to these groups. see women groups under photos
