ORGANISATION’S BACKGROUND WHO ARE WE?......

Livelihood Empowerment Center, (LIVE) is a Non-Governmental, Non-Political, Non-Profit making and Non-Denominational, Organisation in the northern part of Ghana.Given the low levels of achievement in the three northern regions to human rights, education and healthcare delivery, leading to abject poverty, and as northerners, the founders thought it wise to also contribute their quota to the progress of the north.

Community Health and Rural Development Programme was founded in 2003 by four indegenes from four deprived communities of the poorest regions in Ghana. Being victims of diseases, poverty, lack of support for children's education, the group after completing their four years university education decided to give back to their respective communities their best to support reduce illiteracy,diseases and support for children of school going age to achieve their genetic potential. Through monthly contributions of 10% of any Income made by the four people, they pledge and donate to the support of the organisations projects. After four years of working as a Community Based Organisation,the group later realised the problem was more than expected hence the need to register the organisation to "Give Hope to the Deprived" as its motto.

The founders therefore carried out a feasibility study which reveled, that much needs to be done to salvage the suffering of the people. It was clear that after four years of service as a Community-Based Organisation they could not achieve much because of the high levels of ignorance and illiteracy,gross human rights violations, poverty and general suffering of the people without the collaborative efforts of other stakeholders hence the need for LIVE to be formed on 1st July 2003, to ‘give hope to the deprived’ as its motto.

LIVE has become a major player in the field of Human Rights, General health Education/interventions (especially reproductive health care, HIV/AIDS etc), Education, Agriculture and food security, environmental protection and Micro- Enterprise development all in some deprived rural communities in northern Ghana. The organisation works in partnership with other organisations like the district administrative and health assemblies, regional educational offices and other NGOS to achieving its objectives.LIVE aims to provide an appropriate opportunity for all people to make their decision about their own individual lifestyles.
